I remember looking around the room, proud as could be. I was 9 years old, standing in the middle of our living room. I was exhausted, but excited about what I had done. I had finally finished rearranging the entire room - furniture and all - by myself. I thought it would be a good idea to surprise my parents with the new layout. And oh, were they surprised! Fortunately for me, they were also supportive. In fact, they told me they loved the new living room design and it stayed that way until we moved.
I’m sure I drove them a little crazy in the years to come as my design experiments continued, but they never told me to stop. We moved several times throughout my adolescence, and home by home, room by room, they let me experiment with different layouts and arrangements until I discovered what worked best for our family. I quickly became addicted to designing!
As a young adult, the love of design continued. I absorbed information regarding interior design, graphic design, architectural design, fashion design and more. I began accumulating stacks of books and magazines, and poured over a variety of subjects on interior design, decorating, architecture, art, and so forth. To me, there was - and still is - a sense of absolute magic to it all.
In my twenties, I put my creativity to use via the wedding industry as an Event Coordinator. I was able to fine-tune and craft my design eye during this season. For nearly a decade, I helped make hundreds of client's dreams a reality by helping to design, create, and implement their visions for their special day.
It was during this time that my appreciation for organization came into play. I quickly realized that it didn't matter how well planned or beautifully crafted a design was if the organization wasn't there to support it. Turns out, the magic really is in the details, and the details are the everything. As I learned to strategize, and became hyper-organized in order to make events flawless, I began to implement these tools in my personal life. I quickly saw how beneficial it was to bring organization into all areas of my home, and how much easier it made everything on a daily basis!
Now, married with 3 kids, I understand that having an organized and beautifully designed space allows you to have a clearer mind and happier heart. Spending time in a disheveled and oppressive space causes stress and anxiety for all who enter. But residing in a well-organized and stylish space is proven to improve mood and productivity.
That’s why I decided to start Organize & Design, LLC. I'm passionate about designing smart and stylish spaces in order to help make your life better. I believe every space has the ability to function beautifully and I would love to help show you how.
